Warri Wolves record a slim 1-0 win over hard fought Enugu Rangers in a Nigeria Professional Football League week 23 tie played at the Warri City Stadium on Sunday.
The Seasiders only needed Oghenekaro Etebo 13th goal to seal the much needed victory over their visitors from Enugu.
Warri Wolves were awarded a spot kick in the 13th minute by the centre refree after striker Etebo was fouled by a Rangers defender in the 18 yard box.
Etebo step forward and buried the penalty kick in the bottom left corner of the post.
The Wolves striker has now scored 10 goals in the league so far, a goal behind league top scorer, Sunshine’s Dele Olorundare who has scored 11 this season.
With this victory, Warri Wolves are now second on the league table having 37 points from 22 games, 2 points adrift 1st place kano Pillars while Rangers are still on 33 points from same numbers of matches.
Worri Wolves who trounce Pillars 3-0 lastweek in the quarter finals of the 2013 Federation Cup in Ilorin will now face Akwa United in the semi-finals slated for August 21 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
