Sharks proved they are the better side when they came from behind to beat city rivals Dolphin 2-1 in a week 25 of the Glo Nigerian Premier League on Wednesday.
The game witnessed a large number of fans at the Liberation Stadium who got their money’s worth of excitement in the interesting ‘Portharcourt Derby’.
After a goalless first half, Dolphin broke the deadlock when they were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute after Emem Eduok was brought down in the danger box. Isiaka Olawale stepped up to it and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Resilient Sharks restored parity in 75th minute when Jonah Abutu headed home from a free-kick to to send the spectators into celebration.
Both rivals continue to search for the winning goal, but it was Sharks that came out victorious as former Lobi Stars forward Christian Pyagbara scored in the 90th minute to ensure the Derby ended 2-1 in favour of Sharks.
With this victory, Sharks are now 12th on league table with 33 points from 25 games while Dolphins are 9th.
