The Glo Nigerian Premier League Week 22 tie between Kano Pillars and Akwa United have been postponed because of the involvement of the coaching crew of the Kano club in a motor accident on their way back from Ilorin where they played their quarter final game of the 2013 Federation Cup against Warri Wolves.
The Pillars technical officials were involved in a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a road-side motor mechanic in Kaduna.
However, the League Management Committee (LMC) has now decided to suspend the game and wished the coaches speedy recovery.
“We have decided to shift the game because it won’t be good that the game still goes ahead. The coaches are human beings and we must show concern for what happened.
“I am not sure all the coaches would be able to recover on time for the game, so the game will come up at a later date.
“We commend officials of Akwa for showing an understanding of the situation; it was a great demonstration of sportsmanship from them to readily agree to the postponement which was coming on very short notice,” Irabor said.
The three coaches of Baba Ganaru, Kabiru Baleria and Abdul Maikaba are now receiving treatment at the Murtala Hospital in Kano.
