Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin continued their good run in the Nigeria league as they pipped Enugu Rangers 1-0 at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin on Wednesday.
The Ilorin club secured their second straight victory in two games after they defeated Heartland with the same scoreline in Owerri last weekend.
Prior to this encounter, Rangers general manager, Ozor Paul Chibuzor pledged to give the players N500 000, in addition to their normal winning bonus, if they beat Kwara.
The first half ended goalless as both side failed to convert any of their scoring chances.
After the resumption of second half, Kwara Stanley Dimgba scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.
The former Plateau midfielder strike was all the Afonja Warriors needed to seal the maximum points and dashed hope of the Enugu Rangers players to get the sum of 500,000 naira winning bonus.
Kwara United are now third on the league table with 41 points from 24 games, just a point behind leaders Kano Pillars.
In Bauchi, Shooting Stars stumble again as they lost 2-1 to Wikki Tourists on Wednesday.
Solomon Jabason scored the opener for Wikki in the fourth minute before Alaba Johnson made it 2-0 for home side in the ninth minute.
Taofeek Adepoju then pulled a goal back for 3SC in the 43rd minute. The ‘Oluyole Warriors’ are now in the relegation zone after the loss.
