Wikki to pay N2million for violence

The League Management Committee (LMC) has sanctioned Glo Nigerian Premier League club Wikki Tourist of Bauchi for crowd violence that occurred in their Week 22 league game against El Kanemi Warriors.

The Management has directed Wikki Tourists to pay a fine of N2,000,000 and also to pay the medical expenses of the assaulted match officials during the encounter while their opponents, El-Kanemi, were awarded three goals and full points.

According to the statement released by the LMC through their acting media officer Kasali Obanoyen: In consideration of the reports regarding match No 220- Wikki Tourists VS El-Kanemi Warriors week 22 and in line with article 5.6 (1) of the Regulations guiding the Competition, the LMC hereby takes the following Preliminary Decisions.

1. The match is awarded to El-Kanemi Warriors, 3points 3 goals; per article 4.3(1)

2. Wikki Tourists fined the sum of Two Million Naira only (N2,000,000); per article 4.3(2)

3. Wikki Tourists to pay for all the medical expenses of the Referees; per article 5.8(1)

4. Wikki Tourists to play its remaining home matches of the season at FIFA Technical Centre, Abuja. Per article 5.6(1)g

In the week 22 encounter played at Abubarkar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi, the fans of the home team invaded the pitch and assaulted match officials after Chad international midfielder Hassan Hussein scored in the 85th minute to give visiting El Kanemi the lead.
