Kano Pillars are eagerly anticipating Wednesday’s Federation Cup quarter final match against Warri Wolves in Ilorin as they aim to end their past misfortune in the competition.

The ‘Sai Masu’ have never won the Nigeria Federation Cup since the club was founded in 1990 and are aiming to end the spell this season.

“Kano Pillars have never won this championship before and everybody in Kano State wants this trophy. Our mind is really on this competition.

“We almost won it last season but missed by a whisker. We were beaten by Lobi Stars in the Semi Final,” Ganaru told SportingLife.

“We want to be part of history and I think the best time to win it is now.

“It is going to be an explosive match because it is a match between two league clubs. They defeated us 2-1 in the league but this is a neutral ground and we believe we can win it.”

Kano Pillars reached the final of the competition in 1991 but lost 2-3 to El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.

The ‘Masu Gida’ will miss the likes Gambo Mohammed, Nazifi Armani, Shehu Shagari and Umar Zango when they take on Warri Wolves on Wednesday. The four players failed to make the trip to Ilorin due to injuries.
