Glo Premier League side, Nasarawa United have dropped former Super Eagles star Justice Christopher from their team as they prepare for the crucial second stanza of the season.

Justice Christopher was among the Nigeria Super Eagles squad the played at the 2002 African Nations Cup tournament in Mali and the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan.

Christopher was acquired by the Lafi-based team for his great experience, but has now been deemed surplus to requirement in the team after failing to make the expected impact.

A top source at the club told KickOffNigeria.com that the gamble had not paid off.

“Justice was signed at the beginning of the season because we felt we will need his experience to help us get some stability especially as we are just making a return to the top flight, but unfortunately he has not made the desired impact.

“He has really found it tough to adjust to the demands of our modest club and it seems he cannot cope with the pace of the game.

“We gave him a lot of time to see if things will improve but it is obvious to everyone here at Nasarawa United that he cannot offer that same quality of service that the younger boys are bringing to the party here so we just had to drop him.”

The source also revealed that 60% of the sign on fees of the players for the new season has been paid as a way of motivating the team for the challenges of the concluding part of the season.

Nasaraw United will take on Nigeria National League side, C.O.D United in the round of 32 of the Federation Cup on Wednesday, July 17 at the Kwara Township Stadium, Ilorin.
