The Afonja Warriors have strengthened their squad for the second round of the league with a quartet of new players.

Kwarw United have signed on Aminu Awalu from Gombe United, goalkeeper John Lawrence from Lobi Stars, Uche John who last played for Kaduna United, and ABS goalkepper Ibrahim Wasiu.

Kwara United media officer Olayioye Olusola Ajide said that they have completed the signing of all the four players and they will feature against 3SC in Ibadan when the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) resumes on Wednesday.

“We don’t want to take chances in the second round of the league and that is why we have beefed up our team with four new players.

“It is important that reinforced the team because the second round will definitely be tougher than we contemplate.

“We signed on two goalkeepers because one of our goalies, Kazeem Yekeen is now with Shooting Stars.

“I am hopeful and confident that we are going to continue with our superb performance from the first round as Kwara United is poised to play in the Africa continent next year and the only way we can achieve that aim is to continue with our excellent performance from the first stanza, “Ajioye said.

The Kwara State owned-club are 3rd on on the NPFL table with 32 points from many games.
