Broke Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have admitted they owe coach Stephen Keshi four months’ pay.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi whose salary is on five million Naira (about $31,000) a month has not been paid since he led the Super Eagles to a third Africa Cup of Nations title five months ago.

However, the Nigeria FA have disclosed that they hope to offset the salary backlog, which dates back to February, by the end of this month.”Yes, we are owing Keshi about four months’ salary. It is also true that we have not paid him since the AFCON feat in South Africa,” stated NFF technical committee chairman, Chris Green.

“However, we have structured our national team in a manner in which coaches get daily allowance, match bonus, free feeding while they are in camp. But we are working round the clock to ensure that by the end of this month Keshi’s outstanding are settled.”

The NFF, which is in in serious financial difficulty, also forced some cost-cutting measures including downward review of the win bonus of the Super Eagles.
