Sunshine Stars technical adviser Fatai Amoo has denied rumours he has quit his post even though he has received some death threats.
The Sunshine Stars head coach was attacked by supporters of the Akure club after their 1-0 loss to Nasarawa United in the Round of 16 of the Federation Cup on Wednesday.
Amoo was reported to have resigned after the incident on Wednesday, but the former 3SC coach disclosed that he only left Akure as a result death threats he received from some miscreants because of the club’s ouster in the Federation Cup.
Amoo said that he would return to duty when his security and that of his players is guaranteed.
“I am still the technical adviser of Sunshine Stars and I have not resigned at all as is being peddled in the press.
“I only chose not to return now to Akure until the government deals with the issue of threats to my life by some miscreants who I believe were sponsored to cause disharmony in the team.
The former 3SC and Enyimba manager also appealed to the fans of the Akure Arsenal to be patient.
“The fans just need to be a little bit patient and see us as people who want to progress, they should support us and not be against us and if they do this, we will give out our best,” Amoo said.
“There was no record that the players or the coaches were assaulted when they lost 0-3 to this same Nasarawa United that were in the National League last year, why now?
Sunshine Stars will face Gombe United in the Glo Premier League week 23 fixtures slated for August 3 at the Pantami stadium.
