Shooting Stars Sporting Club of Ibadan have slashed the pay of star striker Gbolahan Salami after he went AWOL.
The management of the Oluyole Warriors has taken step to restrain indiscipline in the team after the former Enyimba forward failed to turn up for training.
Shooting Stars Media officer, Jubril Arowolo said Salami failed to attend team’s training sessions for the past two days without official permission.
“We cannot condone indiscipline in the team and all the players must adhere striclty to laid down rules.
“The management felt that players should not do anything that is contrary to the aims of the club this season,” said Arowolo.
“Nobody has seen Gbolahan Salami for the past two days and this is not good for the team as we strive to improve on our position on League standing.
“As such, the club, after Tuesday’s (Tuesday) training session and with no visible clue on the striker’s whereabouts, decided to cut his monthly pay by half with effect from July 2013,” the club media officer said.
Salami scored the Ibadan side’s only goal in their 1-0 victory over JUTH in the Federation Cup Round of 32 game. He was also on target in his side 3-1 loss to Enyimba in the Federation Cup round of 16 clash in Abuja.
