Enugu Rangers proved bookmakers wrong having qualified for the group stage of the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup after they held CS Sfaxien to a goalless draw in a match played the Stade Taieb Mhiri on Sunday evening.
The Flying Antelopes progress to the group phase on of the CAF competition 1-0 on aggregate having won the first-leg in Enugu a fortnight ago through Ugonna Uzochukwu lone goal.
CS Sfaxien had won the Tunisian League title last Wednesday and had hopes of making it to the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
In the 35th minute, Rangers were given a scare as Sfaxien were awarded a penalty but Ben Youseff Fakhereedine fired the spot kick wide in front of 7,000 spectators to keep Rangers hope alive.
Rangers goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel made some great saves to keep them in the game until the final whistle.
The Flying Antelopes played the game without the services of their stars like Sunday Mba, Chigozie Agbim and Emeka Eze who are away with the Super Eagles, as well as Alhaji Gero who is away with the Flying Eagles.
First-leg goal scorer, Ugonna Uzochukwu was suspended for the game after he bagged himself a red card in Enugu two weeks ago.
Rangers who have now reach the last eight of the second-tier CAF competition, are now expected to bag in some numerous cash promises leading to this victory.
