The Nigeria League Management Committee (LMC) on Friday announced that the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) budgets  N600 million to manage the 2012/2013 season successfully.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Nigeria Women League (NWL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League (NNWL) are expected to kick off today as scheduled.

A member of both LMC and NPFL, Mr Salihu Abubakar said in an interview that the request for N600 million was submitted in a proposal for sponsorship to the Federal Government.There are no corporate sponsors.

According to Salihu, all arrangements for the smooth kick-off of the new season has however been made.

“As I speak to you now, licenses will be issue today (march 8) to all the 20 clubs that have get their players registered.”

“Although, the money expected from the government has not arrive but i have the confident that it will come.”

“We want the league to start,” Abubakar said.”We held a meeting trying to get solution to the title rights issue, we are working but if things don’t works, then we will pull our best together to promote the league for some time before we resolve the issues out.”

The chairperson of the Nigeria Women League (NWL), Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedimma lamented the incapability of her league board to get a sponsor for the NWL title before the kick-off.

She said “We are going to continue the way we have been playing while we continue searching for sponsors.”
